The river of Shannon is the most important river of Ireland and gave its name to the area.

Fishing

The area of fishing of Shannon is one of the most important fishing zone of 'Ireland, ideal for your fishing trip.
Pikes develop in vast quiet water and feed from large stocks from keep, rotengles, brèmes and poles.
The best results are obtained while fishing on the surface, and right in lower part of surface, along banks abounding in bad grasses, whereas deeper water fishing is better during the coldest winter months.

Killaloe was in the beginning the only point of possible crossing on Rivetting it Shannon. Of this point, it is possible to sail until Lough Key in Sligo and during the summer, Killaloe is full of sailing ships, barges which wet in the port and await the tourists for fabulous voyages.
  
The town of Killaloe was built at the XIXe century by High King off Ireland, Brian Boru, and is rich historical events which, during one period, did it Capitale of Ireland.

While continuing towards the North of Killaloe you will find the picturesque village of Mountshannon, dating from XIIIe century, where all constructions are made in stone. Here, during the summer, the small wearing of stones, east fills of fishing vessels which move towards Holy Island.
On this island are held of many remainders of monastic constructions, four old vaults, a round tower of 27 meters and many tomb stones dating from VIIe and XIIIe centuries. These monuments offer to the tourists an occasion to be found in the past.
